Week 63: Redouble
This was the busiest week of my life, woah.
Spiritual Thought:
I really like D&C 127 verse 4
4 And again, verily thus saith the Lord: Let… all the works which I have appointed unto you, be continued on and not cease; and let your diligence, and your perseverance, and patience, and your works be redoubled, and you shall in nowise lose your reward, saith the Lord of Hosts
In the midst of hard times for the early saints of the church and for Joseph Smith I like God's advice to them.
To redouble their efforts, their “diligence, perseverance, patience, and their works”
Thinking about how I can apply this in my life has been insightful this week.
When life gets more busy, more stressful, and more difficult, having a foundation of consistency, in the simple things has carried me farther than anything else ever has.
Hard times are when our foundation really matters.
A time to rely on Jesus Christ more. Not less.
Then our celestial habits will push us farther than we are able to go ourselves. They will make us stronger than we already are. And will drive us closer to Jesus Christ.
They will redouble our efforts towards Him.
Short Version of Email: I'm in Helsinki now. I teach so much. Stake Conference, the city is so beautiful. We talked with President and I met so many new people.
Finnish Word of the Week: “Kissanristiäiset” means "an insignificant or unimportant party/event", but literally translates to “a cat's christening”
5 Amazing Things This Week:
1: My first Pday in Helsinki was spent walking around the city in the morning and seeing so many cool things. Then all the missionaries here met up and we played sports together. It was so much fun.
2: In this new area I teach so much. Our days consist of going from one lesson to another and so often it is hard to get any of our studies in. But it's a good problem to have.
3: We had a joint Halloween party with all of the members from Helsinki. It was insane. I was working in the kitchen the whole night and I prepped so much food . It was amazing to see all the fun members. I cut carrots until my hands were blistered.
4: President interviews this week. I was very first which was fun
5: State Conference was this week. Usually they do Stake Conference in a theater but this time it was in a normal church. The churches here are much smaller. It was the most packed Sunday service I've ever been to in my life.
Tender Mercy of the Week:
We were out getting groceries this week and my companion had the thought to compliment this person on their hat. He said that he liked the person's hat and the person responded by saying, "it's been a long time". It turns out he is one of our inactive recent converts. Now we are meeting with him all because of a compliment. Never underestimate the power of kind words!
Where I am/Who I'm With: I am serving in Helsinki. My companion is Elder Allred
Scripture of the Week:
Doctrine and Covenants 127:11
11 I now close my letter for the present, for the want of more time; for the enemy is on the alert, and as the Savior said, the prince of this world cometh, but he hath nothing in me.
My thoughts: This scripture is a new favorite.
Talk of the Week:
Small and Simple Things
My Thoughts:
This is a wonderful talks. Doing the little things right is so so important. And they make way for even bigger and better things!
Miss you lots; send me an email if you so desire!
