Week 67: Meaning of the Law
Hello!
It was a very good week with some high highs and some low lows.
Spiritual Thought:
Go watch the First Presidency's Christmas Devotional!
Short Version of Email: Our friend got baptized. Banned on WhatsApp, met new missionaries, and Christmas parties!
Finnish Word of the Week: “Sika hyvä” means super good or really good, but literally translates to “Pig Good.”
5 Amazing Things This Week:
1: Our friend Khat got baptized! She is absolutely amazing. There were so many incredible miracles that happened leading up to her baptism.

2: We were texting too many people on WhatsApp and got temporarily banned, which was the worst. I guess that means we were working hard.
3: We had mini-splits with some new missionaries. Their companions had a meeting because they are going home next transfer. It made for a fun day being with someone so new to the mission. I also got to see my mission “dad” (the person who trained me when I got to Finland). I haven't seen him since my first transfer; it's been over a year. That was a highlight of the year.
4: I love visiting new places around Finland. Because we teach all the English-speaking people around the Helsinki area, we are allowed to go just about anywhere we want if we have a reason to go there. This means I am always going to new places. It's been fun visiting all the churches around Helsinki, the mission office, and surrounding cities like Espoo and Marjaniemi.
5: The Ward had their Christmas party, which was wonderful. So much fun was had.
Tender Mercy of the Week:
About three months ago, a 21-year-old returned missionary named Isadora moved from Portugal to Finland. I met her 2 months ago when I got to Helsinki. When I asked her why she came to Finland, she told me that she didn't know why, besides that, she just felt like she needed to be here.
She met our friend Khat (who just got baptized) on her second day in the country, and they quickly became friends. Khat's story about meeting the missionaries is already miraculous, but a huge miracle is that she met Isadora. Isadora was so important in helping us teach and connect with Khat. I am confident Khat would not have been baptized if not for Isadora’s influence in her life. Isadora is now back home in Portugal for good. Her flight home was scheduled for 3 days after Khat's baptism. At the baptism, Isadora said she found her reason for coming to Finland. She found Khat, made lifelong friends, helped Khat be baptized, and grew her relationship with Jesus Christ.

Scripture of the Week:
Alma 34:14
14 And behold, this is the whole meaning of the law, every whit pointing to that great and last sacrifice; and that great and last sacrifice will be the Son of God, yea, infinite and eternal.
My thoughts: I heard from someone this week to replace the word “law” with scriptures, which was a really cool parallel to make.

My Thoughts:
Super cool and insightful podcast about the First Vision. I learned so much. It was amazing to hear things in a different light than I usually do. Super well made.
